You may not know the name ‘Clint Tuttle’ but the geek in you will appreciate his brand of genius. Clint, or Mr. Tuttle if you will, is a lecturer at UT Austin and he really wants you to learn excel.
Frankly if you’re gonna stand there all hot (and very married,
damn sorry ladies) and stuff, I’ll listen to anything you feel like signing to me while strummin’ your guitar. I’m not saying I would sign up for his class just because he sings better than the Bieber, but if I were an UT Austin student I wouldn’t think twice about this one.
I’m as proud a Canadian as anyone else out there but can we trade? America, we give you Bieber… but we’re keeping Tuttle.
It’s amazing what one little parody can do. His video, Learn Excel, has over 70k views on YouTube and every time ‘love yourself’ comes on I sign along at the top of my lungs – to Clint’s lyrics, not Justin’s.
As a teacher this skill is a gold mine. How many of those kids sat during exams and managed a few answers only because they remembered the song? How many others, like me, are driving around waxing poetic on the virtues of Excel?
At the risk of sounding cheesy he makes us feel something (and not just in the knees). He connects with us. And isn’t that what we should all be doing with our messaging?
I’m not saying you should go stand on a corner with a fiddle and a cute song, but do something memorable, BE someone memorable.
